If you’re struggling with yoga & have already given up – or, are about to give up – I’d love you to know this ..
Just because we’ve got a body we assume we’re going to be able to do everything we want with it but, there’s one thing we’re not so good at …
And that’s expecting yoga to feel good straight away. As a yoga teacher of almost 30 years, I’ve seen many students come to class just once. They leave feeling disheartened, telling themselves they can’t ‘do’ yoga.
This is what I wish I said to those people …
Progress doesn’t often feel good while it’s happening.
Progress can feel awkward, frustrating and, sometimes, uncomfortable.
It’s only when you look back you realise something shifted.
This is the part we don’t talk about enough.
Progress feels like the opposite to what we think it should.
Discomfort isn’t a sign to stop.
It’s a sign that something is changing, that the body is responding – possibly re-awakening from months of inactivity.
But growth & progress isn’t built by everything feeling easy.
Progress is built by sticking with it.
By Keep Showing Up.
So if your yoga practice feels hard, it doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong.
It means something is shifting.
You’re exactly where you need to be. Keep going. Keep showing up and I promise you, your body WILL open back up & let you in.
